Morning Ritual
by
Shane A. Blake

Am I still holding on?

Could someone please take a look and whisper an answer in my ear?

I can't bear to peek, can't seem to muster the willpower to crack an eye.

Am I still holding on?

I would be forever grateful if you would take a gander and let me know if I'm still sane,
if it's going to be ok.

Just a whisper.

A hint.

Anything.

Still nothing.

(sigh) And still nothing.
