The Woods Deep Inside Me
(Ayin Adams; Wasteland Press)
Book Review
by
Frieda C. Groffy

Sometimes you have to stop the merry-go-round of life, close some doors behind you and, in a
resolute forward movement, open the doors to new horizons.  This is true for artists, no matter
what discipline.  For writers and poets it’s the moment of confrontation with that challenging
white sheet of paper in front of you, realizing you have two choices: stagnation, or moving to the
next level.  This means accepting the challenge, walking the road into the deepest part of yourself,
and exploring, absorbing, cherishing a new fire of passion.  This also means worshiping the spirits,
running through the woods, and climbing the mountains of consciousness, until all of a sudden the
magic happens and the words are falling as cleansing raindrops on the paper.  The little muse-
goddess back, smiling at you; the words, new and fresh, crawling as itchy ants through your
brains, eager to be written down.

Being  familiar with the work of award winning poet Ayin Adams for quite some time, I had a
feeling of expectation.  I was curious to read her new work and I wanted to be surprised by it!
Well, the ‘magic’ happened.  New poems, one by one, arrived in my mailbox, causing me to sit
back and gasp for breath!

Here they were: offering a new tonality, a new drive; touching, tender, with great and daring
metaphors.  ‘Soul’ poetry the way I like it!

So if you see this new book someplace don’t hesitate for a second, spoil yourself by buying it!
